The hydraulic reservoir cap, more professionally termed a vent cap or breather cap, is a small yet critical component fitted to the top of a hydraulic reservoir. Its primary function is to enable the reservoir to “breathe”. During hydraulic system operation, fluctuations in oil temperature and changes in oil volume cause internal pressure variations within the reservoir. The vent cap facilitates communication between the reservoir's interior and the external atmosphere, thereby equalising pressure. This prevents the reservoir from collapsing or bulging while simultaneously blocking contaminants such as dust and moisture from entering the system.
