Top 5 Features of the 2025 Honda Grom

2025-07-10

Since its debut in 2014, the Grom has grown into American Honda’s top-selling streetbike, winning over seasoned riders and newbies alike. It blends fun, approachability, and everyday practicality into an affordable package that’s as fun on track as it is tackling the daily commute. The Grom also kicked off a new wave of miniMOTO models for Honda, now a six-bike lineup, and in its fourth generation, this pint-size powerhouse shows no signs of slowing down. To get a better sense of why this model has made such an impact on the market, we’re going to break down the top five features of the Grom below.

Affordability

There’s no denying that cost is a huge factor in the Grom’s appeal, with the 2025 edition starting at a relatively scant $3599. This makes the bike highly appealing to not only new riders, who may not yet feel confident making a bigger investment in a bike just yet, but to seasoned riders as well. Those looking to add a second, third, or fourth machine to their fleet, perhaps. Plus, once you’ve got your hands on a Grom, you’ll find that trips to the gas station are much more palatable, with the machine capable of getting upwards of 160 mpg. That means you’d be able to log just over 250 miles after filling up the 1.6-gallon tank.

Size

Another obvious element that sets the Grom apart from most bikes is its size. The bike is 224 pounds ready to ride and provides a broadly appealing 30.0-inch seat height. This makes the Grom well suited for riders who aren’t yet confident to handle a more substantial machine. It also creates a unique and playful riding experience for more experienced riders, who can wring every last ounce of performance out of the bike with ease.

The diminutive size of the Grom is one of its most appealing features, making it a highly approachable and new-rider-friendly machine.Honda

Versatility

At first glance, the Grom might seem to be little more than a novelty bike, but it has actually become a highly versatile machine over the years. For instance, during last year’s Barber Small Bore Festival we raced the 2025 model on road and dirt tracks, witnessed some bold riders tackle the Mini-Moto Hillclimb, and thoroughly enjoyed the bike as a means of getting from one event to another. Beyond that it’s a fantastic surface street commuter as well.

Community

As you’d expect, the growing popularity of the Grom has also expanded the community of highly enthusiastic supporters of the model. There are now numerous small-bore gatherings and festivals around the country. There are also tons of aftermarket suppliers developing all sorts of bolt-on accessories to make the Grom more track-ready, or off-road capable, or commuter-friendly.

The Grom has created a dedicated following, and you can now find Grom and small-bore-specific events and festivals all over the country.Honda

Usability

The Grom is a highly friendly motorcycle, full stop. The 124cc single provides mellow power, the clutch is light, and throttle response is perfectly suited to newer riders. The bike handles great, going right where you want it with almost zero effort. It’s easily customizable, and as noted earlier, there are tons of bolt-on parts and accessories available on the market that make the machine exactly what you need it to be. Honda now offers three trims as well, a standard, a Grom ABS, and a Grom SP.
