South Korean home appliance maker Winix Inc. announced Monday that sales of its small appliance lineup Moos, launched last year, increased by 300 percent this year.
The company attributed the strong growth to the rising number of single-person households and increasing consumer demand for practical, space-saving appliances.
Traditionally known for seasonal products such as air purifiers and dehumidifiers, Winix has been expanding beyond its core business by strengthening its portfolio of everyday small household appliances.
The current Moos lineup consist of six products – a hair dryer, steam iron, all-space cordless we-and-dry vacuum cleaner, glass air fryer, mini dehumidifier, and an automatic pet feeder.
The company plans to broaden the brand further into categories including personal care, home living, kitchen appliances, and pet-related devices.
Winix’s electronics division, which includes the Moos brand, reported operating profit of 2.9 billion won ($1.9 million) in the first quarter, up 169 percent from the same period a year ago.
Winix recorded 123.1 billion won in first-quarter revenue and an operating loss of 21.7 billion won.
