Construction spending in the United States declined 0.5% in July 2026 to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of US$2.16 trillion, according to the US Census Bureau. The figure was 3.8% below July 2025, while spending during the first seven months of 2026 fell 3.5% year on year to US$1.24 trillion.

Private construction spending decreased 0.5% in July to US$1.61 trillion. Residential construction fell 1.3% to US$859 billion, while non-residential construction increased 0.4% to US$755.2 billion. Public construction spending declined 0.2% to US$543.4 billion. Educational construction fell 0.2% to US$112.3 billion, while highway construction also decreased 0.2% to US$150.3 billion.
